TEACHING AT SEACOAST ACADEMY

 In October 2002, a small group of individuals met at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth to explore the possibility of founding an independent Episcopal school in the Seacoast region. Creating this small, intimate, independent middle school –where academic excellence, community service and vigorous discourse and learning about all religions will be our three foundations –has captured the hearts and souls of the founding board. Seacoast Academy seeks to hire teachers willing to join the trustees and contribute their excitement, energy and teamwork in order to fulfill the Mission of Seacoast Academy. For teachers with enthusiasm and creativity, this will be an extraordinary opportunity to leave a lasting legacy in the Seacoast.

SEACOAST ACADEMY MISSION

Seacoast Academy is an independent day school in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire serving grades 6, 7, and 8. Informed by the Episcopal tradition, we are committed to the values of spiritual growth, respect for others, and appreciation of diversity. We work in alliance with our students’ families to provide an innovative, nurturing and caring environment that inspires in our students a passion for learning, academic excellence, creative exploration, physical challenge and spiritual curiosity. We encourage our students to find the best in themselves and to make a connection with and serve their community.

We seek…

 * Confident, experienced individuals who are prepared to educate middle school students.

* Teachers who are well versed in their discipline while open to new ideas.

* Advisors who connect easily with students in and out of the classroom.

* Reliable partners for our parents who will communicate with them frequently and constructively with the desire to find success for each student.

* Mentors who will convey to students that nothing is more important than their progress.

* Sponsors for after-school activities.

* Teachers with the patience to support parental anxiety.

* Caring adults willing to spend extra time to help struggling students.

* Professionals who know that there will be times when they are expected to be at   evening or weekend activities to support parents and students.

* Leaders to instill in students a desire to serve through community service.

* Professionals who teach for the love of children.

Teachers at Seacoast Academy can expect…

 * Small class size (maximum of 15 students).

* A supportive administration.

* High standards of conduct for all members of the community.

* Parents who are partners.

* A spiritually fulfilling environment.
