ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
We hope to attract students who, in keeping with our mission statement, strive toward excellence to be the best they can be, who have a passion for learning, curiosity, and respect for others. We are attracted to students who have an interest outside of the core curriculum, a dedication to an enriching activity that can inform their academic life.

We will be selective in our admissions process in terms of character, firmly believing that a child’s moral and ethical fabric will play a key role in that student’s identity as a learner.  As a way of assessing character and writing ability, students will be asked to complete two written exercises, one on-site writing exercise and the other an at-home application exercise, as part of the application process that can help to flesh out this dimension.  In addition, the interview will allow for a one-on-one opportunity to understand the applicant’s character.  These will remain in-house documents.

Academic selectivity will also play a role in our policy, as we strive to accept the best students possible for our school. Assessment in this area comes in four important parts.  Students will provide writing samples (see above) that will allow us to assess their writing skills, both prepared and timed.  All applicants will take the SSAT.  Applicants will also be asked to provide teacher recommendations and a current school grade report.  Lastly and just as important, we will have conversations (the interview) with all candidates to get to know them as young adults and emerging scholars.

We will strive to admit a student body to Seacoast Academy that is as diverse as possible and will continue a generous need-based scholarship program.

SSAT
Applicants are required to take the SSAT as part of their application process.
Seacoast Academy's school code is 7226.
